The 1920s are coming to Spadina Museum Historic House and Gardens, following a period of restoration.

On Jan. 30 the Spadina Road property will present Putting on the Ritz, an event showcasing the museum and current work.

“By synthesizing the house through the inter-war period restoration, the museum will be accurately represented as it truly was at one time,” said Spadina Museum’s administrator Karen Edwards in a written statement.

“It’s during this period of the Austin Family’s residency that our researchers have the most documentation and the most information with which to work and create authentic, outstanding programming for each visitor.”

The night will feature music, food and professional dancers to teach guests the Charleston.

Guests are encouraged to dress in 1920s attire.

The restoration, which included both interior and exterior work, will be complete by summer 2010. Once finished, the Victorian country estate-turned-city mansion, which housed four generations of Toronto’s famous Austin family, will fully illustrate the 1920s through the setup of different rooms, photographs and artwork.
