Instructor is off to a rolling start

BALANCING ACT: Aside from her gig teaching pilates at the Carrot Common building, Colleen Craig also travels the world.
Fitness instructor Colleen Craig’s career is on the ball.

She credits her work’s success to the combination of the two popular exercises: pilates and the inflatable fitness ball.

“It makes perfect sense to add the unique features of the ball to the pilates exercises,” says Craig. “Both target and strengthen deep core muscles and tone the body from within. The combination of exercises is good for balance, also.”

As of January her classes have been relocated to the Carrot Common building, close to Chester subway station.

For Craig, fitness is a perpetual study. She says her approaches to teaching grow along with her.

“I stay inspired by continuously studying pilates and taking time off in the summer and over Christmas so that I don’t get burnt out. I take the time off to experiment with my teaching style,” says Craig.

She also enjoys travelling abroad to places like Chile, Argentina and Brazil, sharing her exercise philosophy with local residents.

Craig has also authored three books: Pilates on the Ball, Abs on the Ball, and Strength Training on the Ball.
